Flagship Annual Policy Festival

Policy Weekend is the flagship annual initiative of the Kautilya Society, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, designed to foster informed dialogue, critical thinking, and multidisciplinary engagement on contemporary public policy issues.

The event brings together students, scholars, policymakers, and practitioners through a series of interactive academic activities.

Key Components of Policy Weekend

1. Policy Drafting Competition
   
   Participants are challenged to conceptualise, draft, and present innovative policy proposals on pressing socio-economic, legal, and governance issues. The competition encourages analytical thinking, empirical understanding, and practical solution-making, core values that the Kautilya Society stands for.
   
2. Panel Discussion on a Recent Government Policy
   
   Each year, Policy Weekend features an expert-led panel discussion on a new or emerging policy introduced by the Government of India. The session serves as a dynamic platform where policymakers, academicians, and legal professionals critically examine the policy’s framework, objectives, challenges, and real-world impact.
   
3. Interactive Policy Learning Sessions
   
   Policy Weekend also hosts thematic sessions, workshops, and guided lectures to help students understand the fundamentals of policy-making, evaluation, and implementation. These sessions aim to build capacity and broaden perspectives, equipping participants with the tools needed to engage meaningfully in public policy discourse.
